Juhani Korhonen

Juhani Korhonen is a Finnish Defense Force pilot who served as the second pilot witness during the April 12, 1969 Pori Airport UFO Incident at Pori Airport in Finland. His independent observations corroborated the account of primary pilot Tarmo Tukia regarding seven disc-shaped objects that demonstrated anomalous flight characteristics. This incident remains the only UFO event officially acknowledged by the Finnish Air Force in its history.

Role in the Pori Airport Incident

During the Fouga Magister jet training mission, Korhonen observed the same seven objects that Tukia had been directed to investigate by flight controllers. Initially assumed to be air balloons, the objects were described by Tukia as disc-shaped, slightly round "like balls with no extremities," and pale yellow in color.

Korhonen's independent observations confirmed both the anomalous shape and the extraordinary speed of the objects as they accelerated away from Tukia's approach against a headwind of 180 km/h. The presence of a second pilot witness who corroborated the visual characteristics and behavior of the objects significantly strengthened the credibility of the incident.

Corroboration and Official Acknowledgment

Korhonen's testimony, combined with Tukia's detailed report and independent radar tracking from Vaasa 200 km away (which measured the objects at an estimated 3,218 meters per second), provided multiple independent data sources. This multi-witness, multi-sensor corroboration contributed to the Finnish Air Force's decision to officially acknowledge the incident as a genuine UAP encounter.
