Pope Pius XII

Pope Pius XII (born Eugenio Maria Giuseppe Giovanni Pacelli, 1876–1958) served as head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of Vatican City State from 1939 until his death in 1958. His papacy spanned World War II and the early Cold War, a period marked by complex diplomatic relationships with both the Axis and Allied powers. Pius XII's wartime conduct — particularly regarding the Holocaust and his relationship with Nazi Germany — remains historically controversial.

Alleged Role in 1933 Magenta UFO Craft Transfer

According to UAP whistleblower David Grusch's public testimony and reporting by journalist Christopher Sharp in his 2021 article "All UFO Disclosure Roads Lead to Rome," Pope Pius XII played a clandestine intelligence role in facilitating the transfer of the craft recovered near Magenta, Italy in 1933 from Italian to American possession.

Sharp's reporting indicates that initially, relationships between Benito Mussolini and the Catholic priesthood were positive, and the dictator confided with Pope Pius XII about the retrieved unknown craft that had been under Italian government control since June 1933 via the secret RS-33 (Gabinetto RS 33) group. However, as Italy formalized its alliance with Nazi Germany in the late 1930s and early 1940s, the Pope allegedly became uneasy about the craft remaining in fascist Italian hands.

Concerned about the strategic implications of advanced technology in the control of the Axis powers, Pius XII reportedly back-channeled information about the craft's existence and location to the United States. This intelligence allowed U.S. Office of Strategic Services (OSS) agents to plan and execute the craft's recovery during or immediately following the fall of the Italian fascist state in 1944–1945. According to Grusch's account, the facility housing the craft — possibly Mussolini's bunker under Mount Soratte — was spared from Allied bombing due to the Pope's prior intelligence sharing with American authorities.

Historical Context

This alleged Vatican involvement aligns with documented instances of Pope Pius XII providing intelligence to the Allies during WWII, including back-channel communications through various intermediaries. The Vatican maintained formal diplomatic neutrality during the war but engaged in covert intelligence activities on multiple fronts.
