Michael Johnstone
Michael B. Johnstone is a UFO researcher who conducted the foundational interview with the anonymous Marine whistleblower known as "RB" and served as the intermediary connecting RB to researcher Leonard Stringfield. Johnstone's 1986 interview with RB produced the documentary record that Stringfield subsequently published in UFO Crash/Retrieval Status Report 5 under the case title "Marine Guards a Disc-Shaped Vehicle, 1963."

Role in the RB Case
Johnstone arranged the connection between Stringfield and RB after learning of the former Marine's account. In 1986, he conducted a detailed interview with RB, documenting his claims about guarding a 40-foot disc-shaped craft of non-human origin at an undisclosed military base in December 1963. This interview formed the primary source record that Stringfield used in his status report.
In the 2000s, aerospace historian Michael Schratt was granted access to Stringfield's personal archives at MUFON in Cincinnati. Schratt located letters between Stringfield and Johnstone in Stringfield's notes and subsequently interviewed Johnstone again in 2015 to gather additional details about RB's account for inclusion in his own published research.
