Sergeant Montil

Staff Sergeant Montil (also rendered as "Montgre" in some transcriptions) is a former United States Marine Corps staff sergeant who served with Air Control Group 28 during Operation Laser Strike in Peru in 1997. Montil was directly named by witness Jonathan Weygandt as having knowledge of the crashed aircraft that precipitated the incident.

RoleStaff Sergeant, USMC; MAC G28

Role in the Peru Incident

On the night of the encounter between March and April 1997, Montil was one of the NCOs — along with Sergeant Allen and Sergeant Atkins — who approached Wagant during his guard shift (around 11 p.m. to midnight) to inform him that a downed aircraft, possibly friendly, had been detected and that Marines were needed to secure the crash site. Montil's awareness of the situation and role in directing personnel to the site indicates he held operational knowledge of the crash before the Marines deployed.

Post-Incident Career

Montil continued a long career in the Marine Corps after Operation Laser Strike, retiring with a prestigious enlisted rank. UAP Gerb identified Montil as a real USMC veteran during the investigation.
