Pori Airport

Pori Airport (Porin lentoasema) is a Finnish airport where the April 12, 1969 Pori Airport UFO Incident occurred. During a Fouga Magister jet training mission, Finnish Defense Force flight controllers at Pori Airport directed pilots Tarmo Tukia and Juhani Korhonen to investigate seven assumed air balloons floating at 1,500 to 3,000 meters altitude above the airport. The pilots reported the objects were disc-shaped, pale yellow, and accelerated away at extraordinary speed against a 180 km/h headwind. While Pori Airport did not record sonar signatures (note: airports typically use radar, not sonar), radar detection 200 km away in Vaasa confirmed the objects at an estimated speed of 3,218 meters per second.
