Finnish Defense Force

The Finnish Defense Force (Puolustusvoimat) is the unified military organization of Finland, consisting of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. On April 12, 1969, Finnish Defense Force flight controllers at Pori Airport directed pilots Tarmo Tukia and Juhani Korhonen to investigate seven assumed air balloons floating at 1,500 to 3,000 meters above the airport. Upon approach, the pilots reported the objects were not balloons but disc-shaped, slightly round "like balls with no extremities," pale yellow in color, and capable of accelerating away at great speed against a headwind of 180 km/h. This incident remains the only UFO observation officially acknowledged by the Finnish Air Force.
