160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment

The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), known as the Nightstalkers, is a US Army special operations aviation unit headquartered at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, specializing in night operations, low-altitude flight, and the insertion, extraction, and resupply of special operations forces. The regiment operates a fleet of modified aircraft including MH-60 Black Hawks, MH-47 Chinooks, and MH-6 Little Birds, and supports the most sensitive US special operations missions globally. The regiment is organized into multiple battalions, each assigned to support specific geographic combatant commands and special operations elements.

Alleged UAP Involvement

According to claims examined in UAP research, only the 1st Battalion of the 160th SOAR is alleged to be involved in UFO crash retrieval operations — with other battalions reportedly unaware of this mission. The 1st Battalion is alleged to provide helicopter transport (CH-47s and MH-47s) for crash retrieval rapid reaction teams, transporting personnel and recovered materials to secure facilities. This compartmentalization within the regiment itself — one battalion conducting crash retrievals while sister battalions have no knowledge — is cited as illustrative of the extreme siloing alleged to characterize UFO legacy program operations. The umbrella authority directing these missions is alleged to be the NRO (National Reconnaissance Office) rather than standard JSOC or Air Force special operations chains of command.
