Component Units
JTF-Bravo's key subordinate unit is the 1st Battalion 228th Aviation Regiment, which maintains a fleet of helicopters including CH-47 Chinooks. During the 1990s, JTF-Bravo and the US Army 7th Special Forces Group worked together in support of the 1995 Peru-Ecuador border dispute.
Theorized Role in UAP Crash Retrieval
In the analysis of the 1997 Peru UFO Crash Incident, UAP Gerb theorizes that CH-47 Chinook helicopters from JTF-Bravo's 1st Battalion 228th Aviation Regiment were commandeered by the DOE NEST rapid recovery team to transport personnel and equipment to the crash site. NEST's documented authority within the Department of Defense allows it to requisition suitable military aircraft for emergency deployments, and JTF-Bravo's assets were the most proximate CH-47s with a provable presence in the US SOUTHCOM theater at the time of the incident.
