R2508 Complex

The R2508 Complex is a vast section of restricted airspace and associated land in the upper Mojave Desert region of Southern California, managed jointly by Edwards Air Force Base (412th Test Wing), Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, and National Training Center Fort Irwin. The complex encompasses some of the most active military flight test and training airspace in the world, supporting everything from experimental aircraft evaluation to weapons testing and large-force tactical exercises.

Access and Poncho-3 Clearance

Access to R2508 is tightly controlled through a system of clearances. Poncho-3 clearance permits only locally based aircraft access to specific restricted sections of R2508 and is held by a small number of facilities: Edwards AFB, China Lake, Naval Air Station Lemoore, and Palmdale Plant 42. This restrictive access framework is significant in UAP research because it limits which units and installations can operate in airspace where alleged alien reproduction vehicles are theorized to be tested and deployed.

UAP Significance

The R2508 Complex sits at the heart of what UAP Gerb identifies as a corridor of facilities connected to UFO legacy program operations. The complex is bordered by or contains:

  • Edwards Air Force Base — Home of the Air Force Test Center and 412th Test Wing, where Edgar Fouche claimed TR-3B pilots were sourced from the Test Pilot School
  • China Lake — A massive weapons testing installation with underground facilities
  • Plant 42, Palmdale — Where Lockheed Martin Skunk Works and Northrop Grumman operate classified aircraft programs
  • Helendale — Lockheed's radar cross-section measurement range

The 2004 Nimitz Tic Tac encounter occurred in Warning Areas adjacent to R2508, and the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center 29 Palms — site of Rodrik Castle's 1997 encounter — is located to the east of the complex. This geographic concentration of UAP-associated facilities and encounter locations supports theories of a coordinated operational infrastructure for alien reproduction vehicle testing and deployment.
