Cuba, New Mexico

A small village in Sandoval County, north-central New Mexico, notable in the UAP context as the hometown of law enforcement officer Manuel Sandoval, who was among the first responders to reach the alleged 1948 Aztec, New Mexico UAP crash scene.

Manuel Sandoval and the Aztec Case

Manuel Sandoval, a law enforcement officer from Cuba, responded to reports of an unusual object downed at Hart Canyon Road near Aztec, New Mexico. His arrival at the scene places Cuba within the network of surrounding communities whose residents and officials had early, direct contact with what witnesses described as a large metallic disc that had come down in the canyon. Sandoval's account is part of the witness record compiled by researchers including Leonard Stringfield and later Ryan S. Wood regarding the Aztec case.

Geographic Context

Cuba sits approximately 50 miles south of Aztec in the foothills of the Jemez Mountains, along U.S. Route 550. The route between Cuba and Aztec passes through remote high-desert terrain, consistent with the accounts of law enforcement personnel traveling from surrounding communities to the alleged crash site.
