Vaasa is a town in Finland located approximately 200 km from Pori Airport. During the April 12, 1969 Pori Airport UFO incident, radar equipment stationed in Vaasa detected seven disc-shaped objects after they rapidly accelerated away from Finnish Defense Force pilots. The radar tracked the objects at an estimated speed of 3,218 m/s, providing critical corroboration of the pilot's visual observations and confirming the anomalous nature of the encounter
